That Which Satisfies

Time, talents, money, thoughts, resources, energy..... Spend your means and your labor on what feeds your soul and satisfies your spirit, and you will find a fulness in your life.

Once upon a time there was a talented, hard worker who stretched and reached and fulfilled his dreams...  He built a successful company and became more wealthy than most people ever dream of becoming.  He travelled the whole world, stayed in the nicest hotels, fished on every river... and yet, he didn't feel fulfilled.  He was perplexed... Why didn't he feel happy inside?

He didn't realize it wasn't the wealth that would bring inner peace and happiness.  It wasn't pursuing his own wants that would fulfill his soul.  He did love fishing, but worldwide fishing alone did not fulfill him like taking an interest in his son's activities.  For him, the things in life that did not cost money were more meaningful to his soul.

Are you spending your means and your labor on what feeds your soul and satisfies your spirit?

The daily, hourly, and minute by minute decisions about where to put our energies, how to use our resources, money, talents, and who to spend time with are the decisions that bring satisfaction to life or keep it from us.

If you are up for a little soul searching today, ponder on these questions:

Where do I put my energy?  How much of my energy is spent on worry and anxiety?  Is this bringing me what I want?

How am I using the resources I have to be productive and create the life I want?

What am I spending my money on?

What are my talents?  How am I using them?

Who do I spend my time with?  What do I spend my time doing?  Is this creating the life I want?  Is it fulfilling my soul?

When do I feel inner satisfaction?  What fills my soul?

Spend your means and your labor on what feeds your soul and satisfies your spirit, and you will find a fulness in your life.
